Clean Kiss Organics Natural Deodorant Review

This post contains products sent to me for review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

If you’ve been here a while you will know that it has been a major struggle finding a good natural deodorant (and yes, I repeat this every. single. time. I blog about natural deodorant.)

So far I’ve tried many different types of natural deodorant including: Tom’s of Maine, Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant and Freedom Natural Deodorant just to name a few of the larger brands.

Behind the Brand:

Jodie, the founder behind Clean Kiss Organics was on the hunt for natural products that worked for both herself and her family, so she made her own. Clean Kiss Organics is Canadian, Leaping Bunny Certified and awarded the Earth Day beauty award for their “Kiss that Hottie” Natural deodorant and Hand Sanitizer in 2017.

It is safe to say that Clean Kiss Organics has become a very accomplished brand in a short time!

“Kiss That Hottie” Natural Deodorant $12.00 CAD

I was kindly sent a few deodorants from Clean Kiss Organics to test out; the sample size of Make that Kiss Last which is a lavender, rosemary and peppermint scent, a sample of Sweet Creamsicle Kisses which is a vanilla and orange scent as well as their full size of Kiss that Hottie which is a bergamot and lemongrass scent as well as the winner of the Healing Lifestyles award.

Each of the scents smell absolutely delicious, but I must admit the Kiss that Hottie is my favourite due to the fresh and invigorating scent it provides whilst applied.

The ingredient list is short and simple. Something that I both love and am totally surprised about because – spoiler alertthis deodorant is easily one of the best natural deodorants I have ever used!

Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), cocos nucifera (coconut oil), corn starch, kaolin clay, arrowroot powder, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), melaleuca oil (tea tree), essential oils of lemongrass, bergamot and rosemary.

How to Use

Apply a pea size amount to your clean underarm. At first I thought a pea size amount wouldn’t cut it but trust me, it does! If you apply too heavily you are more likely to feel damp or sticky.

My Thoughts on the Clean Kiss Organics Natural Deodorant

Over the past month I have been testing out all three scents. As I stated before, the Kiss that Hottie scent is by-far my favourite. I found that it lasted the longest before my armpit stench managed to make its way through.

This deodorant really is one of the best natural deodorants I have used. But there are a few downsides.

Fighting that armpit-stink.

If you are a heavy-sweater like myself (thanks genetics.) You will either need to reapply mid-day, depending on how hot the weather is/ how active you have been. Or at the very least you’re going to want to wash your armpits at night and in the morning.

This is common for natural deodorants.

I found that on a day where the weather is about 23 degrees celsius I was good from 8am-12pm and needed to reapply. When the weather is cooler I can last the full day.

The bumps.

Before I started using the deodorant correctly I started getting little ingrown pimples. Similar to the Schmidt’s deodorant. However, once I started applying only a pea size amount. I noticed that the bumps were a lot less frequent.

I have heard that this could be due to the baking soda in the natural deodorant. I have yet to try a natural deodorant without baking soda, but I have one in mind to test next.

The Packaging.

I am on my way to trying to live a zero-waste (or close to zero-waste) lifestyle. Therefore I’ve been actively cutting out products packaged in plastic. I did mention this point in my Instagram Stories and understand that the cost of the product would definitely jump up. However, I would love it if it were somehow possible to be packaged in a glass jar.

The lid which is made of black plastic is not recyclable where I live – or in many other places including large cities like Toronto (you can read my post on how to (properly) recycle here!)

It’s obviously not a huge issue, but just something that I am actively looking for.

Overall I am very impressed by this natural deodorant. If you are currently on the hunt for a natural deodorant I highly recommend giving this one a try.
